Jared Osmond Opens Up About His Relationship with Britani Bateman and RHOSLC

As the cast of The Real Housewives of Orange County prepares for their Season 18 reunion, The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City is making waves with drama of its own. On October 4, 2024, Jared Osmond—nephew of Donny and Marie Osmond—cleared the air about his involvement in RHOSLC’s fifth season and his complicated relationship with newcomer Britani Bateman.

Speaking to the Mary Cosby Fan Page on X Spaces, Osmond explained how his on-and-off relationship with Bateman led him to join the Bravo reality show. He also addressed a series of direct messages (DMs) he had sent to another woman, which were exposed on the show, and discussed a leaked message where he criticized Bateman after the episode aired.

Britani Bateman’s Entry into RHOSLC

Britani Bateman was introduced to the RHOSLC cast for Season 5 as a “friend,” joining Meili Workman. According to her Bravo bio, Bateman is described as “a practicing Mormon who is in a complicated on-and-off relationship.” During the season premiere, Heather Gay referred to Osmond as “Mormon royalty” due to his famous family. Bateman, in a confessional, revealed that their relationship had been volatile, noting that they had broken up 16 times in just eight months.

In the episode “Basketball, Bobbleheads, and the Brow Girl,” Bateman announced that after much indecision, Osmond had officially asked her to be his girlfriend. However, co-star Angie Katsanevas soon dropped a bombshell: her “brow girl” had received flirty DMs from Osmond just two weeks prior.

Jared Osmond’s DMs and Their Fallout

Screenshots shared by BravoTV.com showed Osmond claiming he was no longer in a relationship with Bateman and that they were both using dating apps. He also encouraged the brow girl to call him. When Katsanevas relayed this information to Bateman, she broke down in tears.

During his X Spaces interview, Osmond admitted to sending the DMs but clarified that they were older messages sent several weeks before the show aired. “It was fairly innocent,” he explained, noting that the timing made it look worse on TV. Osmond acknowledged the backlash he received, saying, “I got an unbelievable amount of hate mail from RHOSLC fans.”

Despite the drama, Osmond spoke positively about his relationship with Bateman, saying, “Britani and I have been best friends, boyfriend and girlfriend—we’re solid.”

The Leaked Message and Its Aftermath

Following the DM scandal, Osmond sent a message to an unidentified person, criticizing Bateman, which was later leaked to the Mary Cosby Fan Page. In the message, Osmond accused Bateman of creating unnecessary drama, claiming she did it for relevance on the show. “She adds so much drama for no reason. Truly, in an attempt to be relevant,” Osmond wrote.

He further expressed frustration about how Bateman portrayed him, stating, “I’ve always been steady, spoiled her over the last year. Paid for everything and have been a true gentleman.” He suggested that Bateman’s past relationships had left her “damaged,” and she ran away from their relationship whenever issues arose.

In a more shocking revelation, Osmond claimed, “Britani has a job on the show because I decided to go on. I give her relevance.” He added that he had agreed to keep their relationship off-camera, referring to her as his “best friend” to avoid exposing their romantic life on national television. However, he admitted, “I got in return a woman that dumped me and made me look like an idiot.”

Jared Osmond’s Regret

During the X Spaces interview, Osmond owned up to his mistakes. He confirmed that the questionable DMs were indeed sent by him and acknowledged his role in the drama that unfolded. He expressed regret over the leaked message, admitting, “I sounded like an [expletive] hole in that moment, and I was. I own that.”

Osmond explained that his critical comments were made out of frustration and a “jilted ex-boyfriend mentality.” He acknowledged that the statements were inappropriate, adding, “I said some things in there I don’t mean. Britani doesn’t need me to be on this show.”

He also reiterated his affection for Bateman, calling her “the kindest woman” and “regal.” He emphasized that fans are only seeing a “small snapshot” of her on screen, and regretted the way things played out publicly. “I will forever be her best friend,” Osmond said, expressing his embarrassment for how he handled the situation.

Moving Forward

Jared Osmond’s candid interview shed light on the complicated dynamics of his relationship with Britani Bateman and the pressures that come with reality TV fame. While the drama between them played out in front of millions, Osmond hopes to move forward, acknowledging his mistakes and expressing his desire to continue supporting Bateman, both as a friend and as a person.

Ultimately, Osmond admitted that joining the show was meant to support Bateman, not for personal gain. As RHOSLC Season 5 continues, fans will be watching closely to see how the relationship unfolds—and whether Osmond can repair the damage caused by their public fallout.
