Luann De Lesseps Reveals Whether She Witnessed Shannon Beador’s Staff Misconduct on ‘Love Hotel’ After Joel Kim Booster’s Callout, Talks New RHONY Cast, and Weighs in on Potential RHONJ Reboot
Luann de Lesseps recently shared her thoughts on Shannon Beador’s drama with Love Hotel host Joel Kim Booster during an appearance on Melissa Gorga’s podcast, On Display With Melissa Gorga. While discussing the latest developments in the Real Housewives universe, including the new Real Housewives of New York City cast and the future of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, Luann, 59, shed light on the situation between Joel, 36, and Shannon, 60.
Earlier this month, Joel had criticized Shannon on Instagram, calling her a “pathetic drunk” and accusing her of mistreating the crew. However, Luann revealed that Joel later apologized to the cast of the Peacock series for his comments. “I didn’t notice that at all, so it must have been kind of [an] on the side, side bar, cuz I didn’t see any of that, and I didn’t see Shannon treating anybody ill-ly,” Luann shared on the October 10 podcast. “It was obviously something very personal to Joel that he got offended and then kind of lashed out and then went, ‘Oh sh*t. What did I do?’”
Following the backlash, Joel deleted the Instagram post and extended an apology to the cast, which Luann appreciated. “He apologized to all of us because it affects all of us,” she explained. “I think he made a mistake for sure, and I feel bad for Shannon because I’m sure she was hurt by it and he mentioned her children.”
Shifting the conversation to the new RHONY cast, Luann admitted that she wasn’t familiar with all of the newcomers. “I like [Erin Lichy]. I like [Ubah Hassan], I know, and [Brynn Whitfield],” she noted. “The other girls I don’t know well at all.”
The discussion then turned to the future of The Real Housewives of New Jersey. When Melissa, 45, asked Luann about her thoughts on how the producers might approach season 15, Luann predicted a partial recasting. “I would say that they would keep their cast members that work and add a couple of newbies, change up the potion. It’s not the love potion right now,” she remarked.
Melissa agreed, adding, “No, it is not. It is the hate potion. It’s a very dark potion.”
Luann wrapped up her thoughts by emphasizing the need for a lighter tone in the show. “The world is dark enough without having to watch a show that feels very dark and heavy, so hopefully they will meld cast,” she concluded. “I think that’s something that New York could have done, but now it’s a little late to that party. It’s not too late for you, though.”
