Monica Garcia Opens Up About Her Close Bond with Mary Cosby: Calls RHOSLC Star ‘My Girl’
Monica Garcia may have been fired from The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City (RHOSLC), but that hasn’t affected her bond with one cast member: Mary Cosby.
In a recent interview with Us Weekly, the former Bravo star opened up about her current relationships with some of the RHOSLC women. When asked who she remains close to, Monica didn’t hesitate to mention Cosby, a series original. “Mary [Cosby] is my girl,” Monica shared. “She has had me in her corner the entire time protecting me.”
Fans got a glimpse of Monica and Mary’s growing friendship during RHOSLC Season 4, but despite the connection between the two, Monica was eventually let go from the show. That hasn’t stopped Mary from staying in touch. Monica revealed that Mary frequently “checks in” and has been “amazing” throughout her time off the show. Despite Monica’s departure, Mary’s support remains unwavering.
Does Monica Still Speak with Any Other RHOSLC Cast Members?
Unfortunately, Monica’s close relationship with Mary Cosby seems to be her only remaining tie to RHOSLC. During the same interview, Monica admitted that none of her former co-stars have reached out to her since her firing. “I mean, it tracks,” she said, implying that the silence from her ex-castmates didn’t surprise her.
For those who may not recall, Monica was fired from the show after being exposed as the face behind Reality Von Tease—a gossip account that took aim at her co-stars. Once the news broke, RHOSLC’s Heather Gay, Lisa Barlow, Meredith Marks, Whitney Rose, and Angie Katsanevas refused to film with her. This decision led to Monica’s dismissal, which she found “beyond frustrating.”
“I didn’t realize they had that kind of power to make that kind of stand,” Monica admitted. “They’re not NeNe Leakes; they’re not anything like that. So, it just kind of blew my mind that they had that kind of power.”
Has Monica Been Watching the New Season?
Although she hasn’t been keeping up with the current season of RHOSLC, Monica has caught a few clips here and there. She had nothing but praise for the newcomers, Bronwyn Newport and Britani Bateman, applauding them for “holding their own” on the show.
So, with her time on RHOSLC behind her, would Monica ever consider returning to the franchise? “Housewives is all about bridges, mending relationships, and seeing the other side of things,” she explained. “But with how things played out, I don’t know how I could do that as long as certain cast members are still there. So I could see myself coming back if, maybe, there was a cast shake-up.”
For now, Monica is keeping her distance from RHOSLC. But fans can still catch all the action with the new cast members and returning Housewives every Wednesday at 9 p.m. EST on Bravo, or stream the episodes the next day on Peacock.
