Monica Garcia Reveals the One Condition for Returning to RHOSLC, Plus Her Biggest Regret and Shocking Moments with the Cast
Season five of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City hasn’t been on air for long, but it’s already receiving glowing reviews, even from fans who were initially skeptical about a season without last year’s main protagonist. Now, Monica Garcia is opening up about her regrets from the show, the cast’s influence on her future, and what it would take for her to make a return.
Monica was a breakout star during season four of RHOSLC. Week after week, she trended on social media for being grounded and relatable. And, of course, no one can forget the dramatic finale where Heather Gay exposed Monica for being behind the infamous troll account. Despite her pivotal role in such a memorable season finale, Monica was not asked back for season five, making her one of the most iconic one-season wonders in Housewives history.
In a recent interview with US Weekly, Monica discussed her experience on House of Villains, and naturally, the topic of RHOSLC came up. She had plenty to say about her time on the show and what she would change if given the chance. One of the main issues she touched on was her involvement in spreading rumors about Angie Katsanevas’ husband being gay.
“I don’t regret that at all,” Monica stated. “But maybe how I did it, I could have done it differently.”
Monica also spoke about her surprise at not being invited back for season five, particularly how much influence the cast seemed to have over casting decisions.
“That was beyond frustrating,” she admitted. “I didn’t think they had that kind of power to make such a stand. I thought, ‘This is your job. You either come and do your job, or you don’t. You film with the cast or you don’t.’ I didn’t realize they had so much control over who they got to film with and who they didn’t, especially that cast.”
Monica didn’t hold back, adding, “And I mean that with all the shade in the world. They’re not NeNe Leakes, they’re not anything like that. So it just blew my mind that they had that kind of power.”
The fanbase has been divided over this situation. Some understand why the cast might not want to film with Monica after everything that happened, but others agree with her—believing the show should come first, and the cast should work together, regardless of personal feelings.
When asked what it would take for her to return to RHOSLC, Monica didn’t mince words.
“Housewives is all about bridges, mending relationships, and seeing the other side of things,” she said. “But with how things played out, I don’t know how they do that as long as certain other cast members are still there.”
She continued, “So I could see myself coming back if, maybe, there was a cast shake-up.”
Given that RHOSLC is thriving in its current season, a cast shake-up might not be on the horizon anytime soon. For now, fans can continue to tune in to season five on Wednesday nights.
