RHOSLC Star Mary Cosby’s Son, Robert Jr., Checks into Rehab Following Positive Tests for Cocaine, Fentanyl, and Marijuana Amidst Legal Troubles

Mary Cosby’s son, Robert Cosby Jr., entered a rehabilitation program over the summer after testing positive for a dangerous combination of substances, including cocaine, fentanyl, and marijuana. The 21-year-old’s attorney confirmed the news while addressing Robert’s absence from a court hearing in August, which was tied to a DUI charge he received in March 2022.

At the time of the DUI arrest, Robert Jr. admitted to having consumed oxycontin, Xanax, and marijuana. According to court records obtained by The U.S. Sun, Robert began an inpatient treatment program at a facility in California, though the exact location and details of his treatment were not disclosed. His attorney explained his absence at the August 15 hearing, and a new court date was set for late November following an earlier postponement.

Court documents revealed that Robert Jr. must attend the next hearing in person. Although the specific start date of his rehab was not shared, it’s suspected that his treatment began after July 19, as Robert Jr. appeared in the background of a social media video posted by his mother, Mary. Days later, Mary shared a cryptic post that hinted at her son’s struggles, writing, “God first, praying for the one I love.”

This isn’t Robert Jr.’s first encounter with the court system. During a previous court date on July 8, he confirmed he had completed a court-ordered 10-day detox treatment and a Victim Impact Panel course. However, he failed to provide proof of completing a 16-week substance abuse treatment program, random alcohol testing, and an additional alcohol and drug program, all of which were also court-mandated.

A “non-compliant” notice was filed against him on July 3 after counselors reported no contact with Robert since a June hearing. Additionally, he had not been tested for drugs since May, when his results showed positive for cocaine, fentanyl, and THC. Despite these setbacks, Robert indicated his intention to enter inpatient treatment, though no immediate proof was submitted to the court.

While Robert Jr.’s drug issues have not been discussed in detail on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, Mary Cosby did provide a brief update on her son during a recent episode. She revealed, “Robert is currently at home. He’s not in college, and he asks me for money. He’s not working, but I feel like I’ve sheltered him too much, and that’s why I don’t mind him staying at home.”

In a preview for an upcoming episode, Mary was seen addressing Robert directly, expressing her deep concern: “Do you know how it would kill me if something ever happened to you?”

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City season five continues to air Wednesdays at 9/8c on Bravo.
