Monica Garcia Cautions Britani Bateman on Her Role in RHOSLC
Monica Garcia’s Advice for RHOSLC Newcomer Britani Bateman: Focus on Ratings and Securing Your Spot
Monica Garcia, former full-time cast member of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City (RHOSLC), had some pointed advice for newcomer Britani Bateman. In a lengthy Instagram rant, Garcia accused Bateman of fabricating her storyline to land a spot on the show, and warned her to be more concerned about securing her position for the next season.
Britani Bateman’s Controversial Storyline
Bateman’s main storyline in RHOSLC revolves around her on-and-off relationship with Jared Osmond, nephew of Donny and Marie Osmond. However, according to Reality Blurb, Bateman was demoted from full-time Housewife to a “friend” role by Bravo after allegedly faking her relationship for the cameras. Sources claim Bateman was downgraded after her fabricated storyline with Osmond came to light.
In August, Bravo introduced Bronwyn Newport as a main Housewife for season 5, while Bateman and Meili Workman were announced as “friends” of the cast. Bateman’s Bravo bio described her as a “practicing Mormon in a complicated on-and-off relationship,” but Garcia was quick to call her out for failing to secure a bigger role on the show.
Monica Garcia’s Concern Over Bateman’s Ratings and Future
In an Instagram story, reshared by the Salty Housewives podcast, Garcia didn’t hold back. Sitting in her car with a Starbucks drink in hand, she addressed Bateman directly: “Get ready with me to destroy a basic [expletive] who didn’t even secure a snowflake,” referencing Bateman’s failure to land a full-time role on the Salt Lake City-based show.
Garcia offered some “advice” to Bateman, starting with a sarcastic expression of concern: “I want to come from a place of concern because I’m worried about you,” Garcia said. She then claimed that Bateman should focus more on the show’s ratings, which she implied were dismal because of Bateman’s storyline. “Girl, they are series lows. Series lows,” Garcia stated. She continued, “You need to focus on your ratings because that’s a problem. …They don’t want to watch you.”
According to Bravo Ratings, the season 5 premiere of RHOSLC drew a low 375,000 viewers, significantly impacting the show’s performance.
Garcia then shifted to career advice, urging Bateman to secure her spot as a “friend” for the next season. “That should be something you’re working towards,” she advised, adding that Bateman could spin the situation into a positive if she had a good PR team. Garcia also accused Bateman of being hired solely because of her connection to Jared Osmond, not her own merits. “They didn’t want you; they wanted him,” Garcia claimed.
She also warned Bateman to watch out if fellow cast member Mary Cosby doesn’t like her, ominously stating, “You need to be scared. She don’t miss.”
Burner Accounts and Social Media Drama
Garcia has faced her own controversies in RHOSLC. Season 4 ended with the revelation that Garcia was behind the Reality Von Tease Instagram account, which had tormented other cast members for years. So, when Bateman accused her of creating new burner accounts, Garcia was quick to shut it down.
In her Instagram rant, Garcia dismissed the accusations, referencing Bateman’s friendship with Heather Gay. “Britani, that was last season,” Garcia quipped sarcastically. “Focus on your current ‘fake storyline’ that you are pushing on season 5.”
In February 2024, during an episode of the Two Ts In A Pod podcast, Garcia claimed Bateman was behind several burner accounts and had blamed Garcia for them. “The amount of people that have sent me voice notes from this Britani girl, blaming me for these burner accounts, is astounding,” she said. Garcia also suggested Bateman was running fan accounts centered on Jared Osmond.
Jared Osmond Speaks Out
On October 4, 2024, Jared Osmond addressed the fan accounts during an interview with the Mary Cosby Fan page on X Spaces. He denied Bateman’s involvement in creating these accounts, stating, “Britani definitely did not create it. We think it’s one of our mutual friends. I think it’s funny. Britani did not create that fan page.”
Osmond also defended Bateman, clarifying that he was the one who preferred to keep their romantic relationship off the show.
Bateman’s Response
In response to Garcia’s six-minute Instagram rant, Bateman reshared a post from a fan account on her Instagram story, clapping back at Garcia. The post read: “Monica is thirsty. A six-minute video? Talking about roles, you couldn’t even score a role, girl.”
Despite the drama, it’s clear that both Garcia and Bateman are vying for attention in the ever-evolving RHOSLC saga. While Garcia warns Bateman to focus on her role and ratings, it remains to be seen how the rest of the season will play out for both of them.
